Colloquium


*PLEASE NOTE: We have had an overwhelming response to the call for proposals and have therefore extended the closing date for the submission of abstracts for oral presentation to Wednesday, 16 December 2009 to provide for requests from northern hemisphere universities. Late submissions can unfortunately not be considered. The colloquium concept will be finalised on 18th December 2009, after which you will be informed of the outcome.

The UNWTO (United Nations World Tourism Organisation) and the Ministry of Tourism in South Africa are calling for papers on mega-event sustainability, to be presented at a colloquium co-hosted by the University of Johannesburg, South Africa, and the Christel DeHaan Tourism and Travel Research Institute, Nottingham University, United Kingdom.

The colloquium is scheduled for Wednesday 24 February 2010, to coincide with the official opening of the International Summit on Tourism, Sport and Mega-events in Johannesburg, South Africa.

The summit takes place at the Sandton International Convention Centre from 24 to 26 February 2010. Colloquium participants are afforded the benefit of attending the full summit.

The committee welcomes proposals for papers/case studies from researchers, scholars, consultants, policy makers and practitioners worldwide. The closing date for the submission of abstracts for oral presentations is Friday 4 December 2009*. Late submissions will not be considered.
